Built in the early 2nd century AD, during the height of the Roman Empire (often linked to Emperor Trajan), the amphitheatre once held 15,000–20,000 spectators—a remarkable size for ancient Dyrrachium, an important Adriatic port city. Continue exploring other key landmarks of the city.
