This 4-day, 4-night tour offers you the opportunity to explore some of the most captivating cities and landscapes in Albania. You’ll discover the rich history, natural beauty, and unique culture of Tirana, Gjirokastra, Saranda, and Vlora.
On this tour, you will visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites—Gjirokastra Old Town and the Butrint Archaeological Site—as well as experience the stunning Albanian Riviera, the beautiful beaches, and the Llogara National Park.

8:30 AM: Meet with your driver at the designated location for the departure to Durres City. During the journey, enjoy an overview of the tour and brief history of the sites you'll be visiting.
Arrival in Durres:
Upon arrival in Durres, the tour begins with a walking exploration of this historic city.
City Walls: As you make your way towards the Amphitheater, don’t miss the Durres City Walls, which were originally built by Emperor Anastasius I in the 4th century A.D. These walls have withstood centuries of invasions and were later reinforced by Emperor Justinian, who added observation towers. Learn about their role as a defense mechanism that protected the city from numerous conquerors.
Amphitheater of Durres: Continue your walk to one of the most iconic landmarks, the Amphitheater of Durres, built during the Roman Empire. It is one of the largest and most well-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the Balkans and provides fascinating insights into the city’s ancient past.
Seaside Stroll: After the amphitheater, enjoy a leisurely walk by the seaside, soaking in the beautiful coastal views and charming ambiance of the city.
Lunch:
After about 1.5 hours of walking, head to a local seafood restaurant for a delicious and fresh seafood lunch. Your guide will join you, giving you a chance to learn more about local cuisine and culture.
Departure for Gjirokastra:
Following lunch and a bit of free time, you’ll continue your journey towards Gjirokastra. During the drive, the guide will share an in-depth explanation of the rich history of Albania and its cultural significance.
Arrival in Gjirokastra:
Once you arrive, you’ll have some free time to explore the Old Town. Wander through the narrow cobblestone streets, browse local shops for souvenirs, and enjoy the distinctive architecture of this UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "City of Stone."

8:30 AM or 9:00 AM: After breakfast, start the day with a sightseeing tour of Gjirokastra’s Old Town and Gjirokastra Fortress. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the cobbled streets of the city, with some free time to explore on your own.
Gjirokastra Fortress: Perched on the hilltop, this fortress is one of the largest in the Balkans. Its history dates back to the 12th century, but much of what remains today was built in the 19th century. The fortress was also used as a prison during the communist era. Inside, you can explore the armory, crumbling ruins, and take in panoramic views of the valley below.
Traditional Museum House: After exploring the fortress, you’ll visit a traditional museum house to experience how people lived in the medieval era in Albania, offering a unique glimpse into the culture and customs of the time.
Departure for Saranda:
After visiting Gjirokastra, you’ll depart for Saranda, a coastal town by the Ionian Sea. The journey takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Arrival in Saranda:
Upon arrival in Saranda, you’ll be greeted by the beautiful Ionian coastline, known for its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking views.
Ksamil Village: Start with a visit to the famous Ksamil Village, known for its stunning beaches and the three islands that dot the sea. You’ll have some free time to relax on the beach, swim, and soak in the idyllic atmosphere of the area.
Butrint Archaeological Site: After some leisure time in Ksamil, head to the Butrint Archaeological Site, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Butrint was an ancient Greek city, later a Roman colony, and eventually a bishopric. The city was abandoned after a major earthquake flooded most of the area in the Middle Ages. Once you arrive in Berat, your sightseeing tour begins with a visit to the Berat Castle, which dates back to the 6th-5th century B.C. and was originally an Illyrian settlement. The city later became known as Antipatrea during the 3rd century B.C.
Berat Castle: The castle is located at the highest point of the city and is home to several churches with valuable frescoes and icons. Inside the castle, you will also find a calligraphy school. Interestingly, residents still live within the castle walls today, offering a unique living experience steeped in history.
Old Town: After exploring the castle, you’ll visit the charming old town of Berat, made up of three major neighborhoods: Mangalemi, Gorica, and Kala, where the castle is located. Each neighborhood offers a distinctive look into the city’s traditional architecture and cultural heritage.
