Nestled in the heart of the Albanian Alps, the journey from Tirana to Valbona and Thethi offers an unforgettable escape into nature. Towering peaks, crystal-clear rivers, alpine meadows, and traditional villages create a landscape that feels untouched by time. This 3-day adventure takes you from the vibrant capital to the serene Valbona Valley, across the breathtaking Valbona Pass, and into the charming village of Thethi. Along the way, you’ll discover hidden gems like the turquoise waters of the Blue Eye, experience authentic Albanian hospitality, and hike trails that reward every step with awe-inspiring views. Whether you’re a passionate hiker or a nature lover seeking tranquility, this itinerary offers a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and natural beauty.

  • Distance: ~220 km (~6–7 hours by car/ferry + road)

    Morning:

    • Depart Tirana early (around 7:00 AM).
    • Drive to Koman Ferry (~3.5 hours).
    • Take the scenic Koman Ferry to Fierzë (~2.5 hours). This ferry ride is stunning—Albanian fjord-like views.

    Afternoon:

    • From Fierzë, drive to Valbona (~1 hour).
    • Check-in at a guesthouse in Valbona.

    Evening:

    • Short hike to explore Valbona village and surrounding meadows.
    • Dinner at a local guesthouse with traditional Albanian food.

    Accommodation: Valbona guesthouse or lodge.

Hiking day (moderate to challenging)

Morning:

  • Start early (~7:00–8:00 AM).
  • Hike from Valbona to Thethi via Valbona Pass (~6–8 hours depending on pace).
    The trail is breathtaking, passing alpine meadows, rivers, and the dramatic Valbona Pass (~1795 m elevation).
